Twisted yarn

Yes, this pattern is meant to have twisted yarn, but I am having a lot of trouble with the two balls of yarn getting too twisted up. In the pattern, it tells you not to manually untwist the yarns because you will be automatically untwisting them per the pattern. However, my yarns get so twisted that I can no longer knit with them.

Did anyone else have this problem?

Can you give me suggestions?

I had that problem. The only way I handled it was to manually untwist the yarn when it got too twisted. I know, it's a pain, but I think that the results are quite well worth it. Hope this helps.

You know, I'll admit to the fact that after starting and stopping the process called out in the pattern and having a big mess by the time I was reaching the middle of the shrug, I changed my tactic. I manually lifted the balls of yarn in the correct twist direction as I was knitting. It worked fine for me. You just need to be really sure you're watching whether you're on an "over" or "under" round as your doing it, or your twists will not look correct.

Thanks! I am glad to know that others have had the same predicament. I think that I am going to place my two balls of yarn on a lazy susan. Hopefully it will work for me.

I also manually untwisted mine which made it much easier. I did it the same as Kim (I think) and did quite a few twists in advance so that I only had to do it a few times each row.

As Kim said, just make sure you're twisting the correct way for each row.

Good luck and don't forget to post photos of your finished shrug:-)
