Am I nuts? (A poll for the KAL)
Ok, I finished my shrug back in July--happy with the results and moving on to other projects. My best friend liked my shrug so much that she asked me this weekend if I'd knit her one in exchange for yarn for a project of my choice. Yes--she'd pay for her yarn and mine! Can I actually go through this again? Would anyone else?

Hi Kim,
I actually found this a quick & easy knit (just disappointed as you know) so I would knit it again. But how do you feel about it?
Once I figured out the best way to tackle the twists, it wasn't bad. Plus, I'd like to see it in a different color combination. For free project yarn, I'd do just about anything, too!
Hmmm, I don't know if I'd do it. I'd have to figure out what my labor rate would be. If it was something like $5/hour, no way, unless you're doing it out of love for your friend. Divide the approx cost of your gift yarn by number of hours to knit the shrug.
Hope this doesn't sound too mercinary, but non-knitters usually have no idea of how long it takes to knit something. Or how expensive good yarn is! I used to design and make wedding dresses, minimum charge of $2000, but in the end I was only making about $5/hour! I got burnt out pretty fast. Everyone loved their dresses, high end silk, swarovski crystal, etc., but it was killing me.
I've got a long queue of knitting projects for myself (listed on my blog), so unless something is a gift, I won't do it! Yah, I'm one selfish knitter. ;-)
But if someone offered me $250 worth of yarn for 12-15 hours of work, I'd probably do it.
Jill--
Thanks for the feedback! I am lucky in the fact that my friend that requested it is also a knitter. She suffers from a disease similar to lupus, thus her knitting time is severely limited due to how painful her hands are feeling that day. I also know that she understands that a project from me could literally take years (I started a stained glass window for her 4 years ago and it's still not done)! This would obviously be a labor of love more than anything.
No! You are not nuts. If you like her, why not? Good friends is fun to please! Go for it! But, Im having trouble finishing, so "quick easy knit"? Not that quick....But the circle was GREAT! SLeeves though...
